In my opinion marriage isnt a dead institution. Of course, Im describing the Polish situation in this moment. I could say that European world is divided in two kinds of mentalities. One of them is more liberal and the other more conservative. While talking about the marriage and its significance we must recall the role of the church in this case. The western part of Europe has changed, has different stile of life, is more open on changes in society, sometimes very radical ones, like acceptation of homosexual relations etc. In Western Europe people are Protestants and atheists, that's why some ceremonies connected directly with the Catholicism dont take place. These people dont believe in the institution of marriage, they prefer to live in the relations that arent legalised. In their case we can say that, indeed, marriage is a dead institution.
Meantime, in Eastern countries like Poland, the situation is different. First of all, the marriage is a scope for every young girl. Her dream is to stand one day in a church in beautiful white dress beside his boyfriend. Although, also young people in Poland tend to be independent they get married. It is said that 90% of Polish society believes in God, so the decision of marriage is logical in this case.
